The city of Sialkot, the center of football production worldwide, is going green thanks to the Asian Development Bank.

In order to help the Government of Punjab create sustainable and livable mid-level cities, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is investing in and improving basic infrastructure and services in these locations.

ADB literature describes Sialkot as “a thriving business hub” that produces things like “footballs and high-quality surgical instruments.”

Sialkot’s competitiveness, job creation, and quality of life are all on the upswing thanks to the Asian Development Bank’s investment in urban development, it was reported.

Over 70% of all footballs produced globally are produced in this city.

If you’ve ever played football, the ball you used probably originated in the Pakistani city of Sialkot, according to the pamphlet.

Doha, Qatar, will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the ball used in the tournament comes from the city.

Forward Group and Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) Chairman Khwaja Masood Akhtar stated, “We have international customers. They schedule meetings and tours of our factory regularly. Consequently, the city’s transportation systems, including its roads, railways, airports, and dry ports, must be in good working order.

It was emphasized that the ADB is assisting in the development of cities like Sialkot so that public services can keep up with increasing demand.

It stated, “With the ADB’s help, over 450 tons of solid waste is effectively collected every day and communities are taught better waste management,” and that “water infrastructure is being upgraded for reliable supply,” in addition to the rehabilitation of sewerage and sanitation systems.

Sialkot activist Farkhanda Ishtiaq said, “We learned about solid waste management at home. It helped me a lot to learn how to sort my garbage properly in the kitchen.

Clean restrooms and well-lit paths have been added to the city’s parks, walkways, and terminals to make them more user-friendly.

Sialkot resident Rabia Ahad remarked that her children’s playtime has greatly improved since the city’s decongestion.
