It is predicted that Pakistan’s population would grow to more than 330 million by the year 2050.

The minister of information has said that the increasing population is just as worrying as the damage caused by climate change.
She predicts that by 2050 there will be 330.8 million people living in the world, up from a current population of 260,3 million.
Pakistan’s population has increased from 30 million to 230 million in just 75 years.
ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb warned that Pakistan’s population is expected to grow to over 330 million by 2050 if the current rate of increase is not slowed down.

In her speech commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Population Council, she promised that “soon, a national emergency plan will be unveiled to deal with the growing population.”

She said that next week, a national action task force meeting will be held in this regard, and that provinces will have a voice in the group.

The federal minister predicted that by 2030 the population would reach 260.3 million, and by 2050 it would reach 330.8 million.

She also mentioned that Pakistan now has a population of 230 million, just as the global population hit 8 billion this year. The population of Pakistan doubled from 30 million to 230 million in just 75 years.

According to Aurangzeb, Pakistan has the world’s fifth-largest human population.

She mentioned that Pakistan’s population is growing at a rate of 2% per year, making it crucial for the government to address issues arising from this trend. She argued that a unified story on the issue was necessary at the national level.

“There must be input from everyone involved in order to craft a cohesive national narrative. There needs to be an open dialogue about this on official government forums.”

She also said that the “alarming” growth of the population was just as concerning as the damage done by climate change.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) officials, according to The News, said last week that Pakistan is among the eight countries where more than half of the increase in global population leading up to 2050 will be concentrated.

Growing at an average annual rate of almost 2%, Pakistan is home to almost 3% of the world’s population, the officials said.

The world population surged past 8 billion people earlier this month, the UN said, warning that more hardship is in store for regions already facing resource scarcity due to climate change.

Whether it’s food or water, batteries or gasoline, there will be less to go around as the global population adds another 2.4 billion people by the 2080s, according to UN projections.
