On Thursday, presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak told a Ukrainian television network that between 10,000 and 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the conflict with Russia.

As far as we can tell, these comments represent the first estimate of casualties since late August, when the chief of the armed forces stated that almost 9,000 military people had been slain.

According to Podolyak, who spoke with the Kanal 24 station, “we have official data from the general staff, we have official figures from the top leadership, and they amount to (between) 10,000 and 12,500 to 13,000 fatalities.”
