Alvi, Shehbaz Agree To Maintain Working Relationship
ISLAMABAD – President Arif Ali and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif agreed to maintain a good working relationship so that constitutional and legal matters, concerning the state may be decided without further delay.
“Issues related to the political and economical situation in the country were discussed during the meeting,” a short official statement said after their meeting.
This is the first ever meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Alvi since the change of the government. President Arif Alvi did not administer the oath to PM Shehbaz Sharif as he was indisposed for more than a week. Sources said that during the meeting, issues concerning the removal of the governors of Punjab, KP, Sindh and Balochistan also came under discussion.
President Alvi assured that he would act in accordance with the Constitution, and would extend all possible constitutional cooperation to the government in running the smooth affairs of the day to day matters of the state.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif apprised him of the political situation in Punjab and delay in the oath of chief minister by the Punjab governor and sought his cooperation.
