An investigation into power theft yields results: minister

Muhammad Ali, the acting minister for energy, power, and petroleum, declared on Saturday that the government’s vigorous campaign against power theft was yielding encouraging results and that there would be no concessions in the struggle against these criminal acts.

He stressed that effective measures were being implemented to improve the power supply system, with the elimination of power theft being a major priority, in an interview with a private news programme.

Ali stressed the urgent need for extensive energy sector changes and confirmed that the government was taking practical measures to assure a continuous gas supply during the winter season.

The minister praised the commitment of the officers and workers engaged and expressed confidence in the government-led campaign’s success.
