Asia Cup: Babar Azam compares Javed Miandad to Naseem Shah for his sixes

Young bowler Naseem Shah’s last-over sixes against Afghanistan were compared by Pakistani captain Babar Azam to the strikes made in Sharjah by renowned batter Javed Miandad.

Babar said during the post-game presentation, “At the back of my mind, I thought this is T20 cricket, and I had seen Naseem bat like this, so I had a little bit of belief.”

He continued, “It reminded me of Javed Miandad’s six in Sharjah.”

After striking two sixes in the final over against Afghanistan in the Super Four round, Pakistan bowler Shah led his team to the Asia Cup final. The likelihood of the squad making it to the final was slim if he hadn’t hit the sixes. The Men in Green won by 1 wicket against Afghanistan, knocking India and Afghanistan out of the tournament.
