Benedict Cumberbatch gears up for Netflix upcoming thriller series ‘Eric’

In the upcoming Netflix show Eric, Benedict Cumberbatch will be back as a desperate father, along with Gaby Hoffmann.

The actor who played Sherlock Holmes will play the main character, a father named Vincent Anderson who is looking for his missing nine-year-old son, who went missing on his way to school one morning.

Eric shows New York in the 1980s, when Vincent was one of the city’s best puppeteers and the creator of “Good Day Sunshine,” a very popular children’s TV show.

As he tries to deal with the death of his son Edgar, he gets more and more upset and irritable.

Vincent feels bad about Edgar running away, so he holds on to Edgar’s drawings of a blue monster puppet named ERIC. He hopes that if he can get these drawings on TV, Edgar will come back home.

In addition to Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann plays Cassie Anderson, and McKinley Belcher III plays Detective Michael Ledroit on the show.

Abi Morgan OBE, who has won both a BAFTA and an Emmy, made Eric and wrote the script for it. She also wrote The Split, River, and Suffragette.

Abi Morgan, the show’s executive producer, said, “Eric is a dark and crazy trip into the heart of 1980s New York and into the good, bad, and ugly world of Vincent, a genius puppeteer on one of America’s most popular kids TV shows.”

He also said, “I just can’t pass up the chance to work with Benedict and the creative team at Sister and Netflix.”
