Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘ultimatum’ to his longtime agent before their split
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly gave his former agent Jorge Mendes an ultimatum to bring him to Chelsea or Bayern Munich.
El Mundo shockingly reported that the Portuguese international made the demand last summer.
Ronaldo reportedly told Mendes, “Either Chelsea or Bayern, or we break up.”
After Ronaldo’s heated interview with Piers Morgan on Talk TV, United mutually agreed to end his contract two days before Portugal’s FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign.
Ronaldo called club members “betrayed” for trying to force him out and said Ten Hag doesn’t appreciate him.
In response to Ronaldo’s request, Mendes, who was voted Globe Soccer Awards Best Agent of the Year ten times from 2010 to 2020, contacted Bayern and Chelsea to gauge interest in his client.
Ronaldo and his agent split after the two leading clubs rejected the offer.
They weren’t always like this. Close friends. Ronaldo’s manager was Mendes. Mendes is one of Ronaldo’s children’s godfathers.
Mendes reportedly stopped things because he couldn’t handle Ronaldo’s expectations.
“Jorge has done so much for my family. My friend became family “Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, remarked.
Cristiano joined Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr for about 200 million euros.
37-year-old signed a deal through June 2025.
He led the Riyadh All-Stars, including Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal players, against Lionel Messi’s Paris Saint-Germain in his Saudi Arabian league debut.
The former Real Madrid star scored twice, but Saudi Arabia fell 4-5 following an exciting contest.
