Drone footage of the Turkey earthquake shows cracks in the land.

TEVEKKELI/TEPEHAN: Drone footage from southern Turkey showed cracks and splits in fields, roads, streams, and hillsides. These were caused by a huge earthquake that hit the area at the beginning of the week.

In Turkey’s southern province of Kahramanmaras, near the town of Tevekkeli, the quake on Monday opened up a jagged scar of cracked and bare earth that went deep into embankments and went all the way to the horizon. This scar cut deep into embankments and ran along open land as far as the eye could see. When it hit a highway, it broke up the asphalt and the metal fences. On the side of the road, huge rocks had come rolling down the hills. Huge gorges cut through groves close to a house near the village of Tepehan, leaving islands of grey-brown land and trees on the edge of new cliffs. The roots of other trees were on their sides.

Mehmet Temizkan said that the shaking woke him up early on Monday.

Drivers had to wait their turn to get through the broken road. Huge gorges cut through groves close to a house near the village of Tepehan, leaving islands of grey-brown land and trees on the edge of new cliffs. The roots of other trees were on their sides.

Mehmet Temizkan said that the shaking woke him up early on Monday.

“At first, when everyone was scared, no one knew if we could leave home or if we could stay alive. We gave up. When we saw what happened here in the morning, we thought this must be where it all started “Reuters says he said

On Saturday, more than 24,000 people had died because of the earthquake in southern Turkey and Syria. It was the deadliest earthquake in the area in 20 years.

On Friday, rescue workers in Turkey saved a 10-day-old baby and his mother who were trapped in the ruins of a building. They also rescued several people from other sites, even though President Tayyip Erdogan said the government should have acted faster.
