FM Bilawal encourages Meta to establish a presence in Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari encouraged Facebook’s parent company Meta to create an office in Pakistan on Wednesday.

The foreign minister made the statements during a meeting with Meta President, Global Affairs, Nick Clegg in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s 77th session.

“Pakistan’s IT sector has experienced rapid growth in recent years, creating new chances for platforms such as Meta to extend their operations in Pakistan,” stated FM Bilawal.

During the discussion, the foreign minister briefed Clegg on the potential available in Pakistan, including its tech-savvy youthful population (64% of whom are under the age of 30), high teledensity, enormous economic digitization, and business-friendly regulatory system.

FM Bilawal also praised Meta for providing Rs.125 million to Pakistan for humanitarian help in the aftermath of the catastrophic floods.

“These are trying times for Pakistan, and this donation will support our flood relief efforts,” he continued.”After the floods, the job of comprehensive recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction cannot be accomplished without the participation of the business sector,” the foreign minister stated.

Clegg spoke on the occasion, expressing his solidarity and compassion with Pakistan in the aftermath of devastating floods.

He stated that Meta’s Pakistan team was exclusively made up of Pakistani experts. He informed the foreign minister on Meta’s ongoing connectivity and capacity-building initiatives in Pakistan.Clegg confirmed Meta’s willingness in continuing to engage with Pakistan to explore ways to improve collaboration.
