Gwadar International Airport started night landings.

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) started a night landing service at the Gwadar International Airport on Sunday.

In this case, the CAA has told airlines and other flight companies that they can’t leave their planes at the Gwadar airport overnight.

“At Gwadar International Airport, only military planes and planes owned by the Balochistan government will be allowed to park at night,” it said.

The biggest airport in the country, New Gwadar International Airport, is in Gurandani, which is 26 km east of Gwadar city. It is the first airport in Balochistan where people can land at night.

Local and foreign flights can land at the airport and go to the port city.

The Chinese government gave a grant to pay for the project as part of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. The project was expected to cost $230 million.

The CPEC website says that the building of the airport created 3,000 jobs. Imran Khan, who was prime minister at the time, broke ground on the airport on March 29, 2019.

The task of putting the idea into action was given to the Aviation Division.

On the other hand, work on it started on October 31, 2019. According to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor portal, the project was supposed to be finished in March 2023.

“Construction of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), along with related facilities for a new airport that will be able to handle a combination of ATR 72, Airbus, (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747) for both domestic and international routes,” the website says about the much-anticipated facility.
