In the treason case, an Islamabad court has approved Shahbaz Gill’s two-day physical remand.

A federal court in the federal capital approved a two-day physical detention of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill in a sedition case on Wednesday morning. The matter was heard under tight security, with duty magistrate Umar Shabbir ordering police to present the PTI leader in court on Friday.

During the brief sessions, police demanded that the PTI leader be remanded in custody. The court then deferred its decision for a little time before issuing a two-day physical remand. Gill, the chief of staff to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, was arrested from Bani Gala Chowk on Monday afternoon for inciting the public against state institutions.

The police told the court that they still need to recover Gill’s phone and the equipment he used to make the statements for which he was arrested. “We also need to look into who ordered the programme to be broadcast,” the police told the judge.

Gill’s counsel, Faisal Chauhdry, informed the judge that the programme was not broadcast on anyone’s orders. The police station in Kohsar has opened an investigation into Gill. The first information report (FIR) comprises a number of infractions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The PTI leadership was outraged by Gill’s incarceration, with the party chairwoman claiming that he was “abducted” rather than arrested.Gill attempted to stir hate within the Pakistan Army two days ago while speaking on a private TV channel. He had used derogatory words toward journalists and threatened top bureaucrats. The PTI leader had launched personal assaults and made underhanded statements about his political opponents.
