Jason Segel says that while working on “Shrinking,” Harrison Ford scared him.
Harrison Ford scared How I Met Your Mother star Jason Segel, who plays a widowed therapist on the show, he says. Segel, who also helped make the show, talked about what it was like to work on Collider.
“Well, to tell you the truth, Harrison is a pretty scary gift. When a famous actor you’ve always admired shows up on set and you have to act with him, your first thought isn’t “God, I’d love to hang out with this guy.”
“It’s more like, “I hope I’m making him happy.” I felt awe. But one of the nicest things he does is try to break through that feeling of awe and make you feel like you’re on the same level as him. I think that my friendship with Harrison was a lot like what Jimmy and Paul had with each other. I wanted him to like me. He told me I was doing a good job, which was what I wanted to hear. He treated me very well.”
“One thing I learned about myself after watching How I Met Your Mother is that I’m doing this job in part to learn. With each job, you get a little master class on the subject you’re looking into, as well as on how you relate to that topic.
“It’s a wonderful perk of the job. I really like taking on new projects all the time, especially now that streaming has changed things so that you can work on something like this while doing other things and don’t have to make 24 shows a year. When we did “How I Met Your Mother,” TV was in a very different time.
Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein made the American comedy-drama TV show Shrinking. It first aired on Apple TV+ on January 27, 2023. In March 2023, it was given a second season.
The show is about a therapist named Jimmy Laird who is dealing with a lot of sadness. He starts to cross ethical lines by telling his patients what he really thinks, which makes their lives change in big ways.
