Mickey Arthur tells PCB that Pakistan can win the World Cup with Babar Azam as captain.

Mickey Arthur, who is in charge of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to keep Babar Azam as captain until the upcoming ICC World Cup, which will be held in India in October and November of this year. He said that the Green Shirts can win the mega even with Babar Azam as captain.

A local cricket website says that Arthur met PCB management committee chairman Najam Sethi, top selector Haroon Rashid, and Babar when he arrived in Islamabad this week to sign his contract as director of the national team.

During his talk with Sethi, the former head coach, who had believed in Babar as a Test player even though he had been criticised when he was with the Pakistan team before, told Sethi that there is no immediate way to replace Babar as captain.

He said that the Pakistan team could win the World Cup if Babar was the team’s captain. Arthur also told the website that the present team has several game-winners who just need to be led in the right direction.

In his job as director, Arthur will help make plans for the Pakistan men’s team and make sure they are carried out.

The 54-year-old will also be part of the coaching staff for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, a tour to Australia, and a home match against the West Indies. He will also be with the team when Pakistan plays India in ACC Asia Cup games.

From 2016 to 2019, Arthur was Pakistan’s coach. During that time, Pakistan became No. 1 in Tests and Twenty20 Internationals, and he also helped the team win the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
