NA body on IT orders ministry to boost the effectiveness of the Cyber Security Cell

The Cyber Security cell of the ministry was given Monday’s directive by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication to enhance their performance.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will present a joint briefing on Cyber-Crime, Cyber Security, and Social Media Rules at the Committee’s next meeting, it was decided at the 26th meeting of the Committee, which was presided over by Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali.

The Committee also expressed dismay over the problems with telecommunications in the flood-affected areas and established a subcommittee, chaired by Syed Mehmood Shah, to study and provide recommendations on ways to enhance telecommunications in the nation’s rural regions.

Mahesh Kumar Malani, Ms. Aysha Rajab Ali, Ms. Javairia Zafar Aheer, and Ms. Naz Baloch, all MNAs, were also members of the Committee.The Committee made the decision to go to the Information Technology Park in Islamabad to see how the IT pilot project was coming along.

The secretary gave a presentation to the committee on how the connected Departments and Organizations of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication function overall.The committee was briefed by the secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication on the progress of the earlier recommendations.

The minutes from the committee’s previous sessions on February 2 and June 30, 2022, were unanimously approved.The Committee presented Fateha and sent their families—who lost loved ones in the recent floods—its sincere sympathy and condolences.

The Chair noted that a very trying situation was affecting the entire country. He hoped that the current administration will make full use of its resources to assist in the rescue effort and the rehabilitation of flood victims.

The committee members thanked MNA Mir Khan Muhammad Jamali on being chosen as chairman and gave him their full support and active involvement in the committee’s activity.

Malik Sohail Khan, Ali Gohar Khan, Ayesha Rajab Ali, Romina Khursheed Alam, Maiza Hameed, Mahesh Kumar Malani, Shamim Ara Panhwar, Naz Baloch, Syed Mehmood Shah, Salahuddin, and Javairia Zafar Aheer were all present during the meeting. The Secretary and senior officers/officials from the Ministry of Information Technology also attended the meeting.
