On October 2, organisers expect to shatter the record for the largest dog wedding.

On October 2 in Geneva, USA, the Kane County Cougars Baseball Foundation and Villa Park-based Robust Promotions will attempt to break the world record for the largest dog wedding for a good cause.The “Diamonds in the Ruff” wedding ceremony could make history in addition to setting a new Guinness World Record.

The cash raised from dog registrations will be used to safeguard and care for rescue canines as well as combat veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other battle ailments and traumas.These trained companion or service dogs are put with military veterans to assist them in navigating the tough adjustment to civilian life.

Jill Kobe now holds the world record for marrying 178 pairs of dogs in Colorado in 2007.Martin Rees, the acclaimed magician and five-time Guinness World Record winner, will host the wedding. According to the event website, Rees will also officiate vows between the canines with a “ordained canine minister,” a dog named Reverend Henry Cleotis Farnsworth III.

The event, which will take place at Northwestern Medicine Field, 34W002 Cherry Lane in Geneva, aims to raise $100,000 for service animal charities.According to WGN, this is not an organization’s first attempt. The same groups attempted but failed to break the record last year.

“This year, we’re going big, like very large,” Rees said.”We have capacity for 5,111 doggy couples,” Rees continued, adding that they were not seeking for hundreds, but “thousands of doggy couples.”
