PAK vs NZ: Naseem Shah continues to break records

On Wednesday, during the second one-day international of the series against New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, Pakistan bowler Naseem Shah continued his remarkable performance and record-setting statistics.

In the second game of the series against New Zealand, Shah once again had a fantastic performance, this time by taking three wickets.

The fast bowler’s 19 wickets through the first five ODIs were the most of any bowler.

Australian batsman Ryan Harris held the previous record with 17 wickets in his first five One-Day Internationals.

Earlier, in the series opener on Monday, Shah took his second consecutive five-for to become the bowler with the most wickets in his first four ODIs.

The 15 wickets he took in the first four ODIs put him ahead of Australia’s Ryan Harris and Gary Gilmour, who took down 14 batters in the same amount of games.

After making his One Day International debut on August 16, 2022, against the Netherlands, the right-arm bowler has taken 19 wickets in five 50-over games.

It’s worth noting that despite a blazing start to their innings, New Zealand was only able to score 261 runs off of 49.5 overs thanks to the efforts of spinner Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem.

New Zealand looked like they would comfortably score over 300, but the left-arm bowler got figures of 4-38 in 10 overs, bringing Pakistan back into the game.

Even though the Kiwis lost Finn Allen in the first over, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway put together an excellent 181-run partnership.

After reaching 101 runs off of 92 balls, Conway was dismissed by Naseem Shah, and his exit triggered a dramatic collapse.
