Pakistan wins two more wrestling medals thanks to Sharif Tahir and Ali Asad.

Wrestler Muhammad Sharif Tahir won silver for Pakistan in the 74-kilogramme Freestyle final at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday. In the final, he was defeated 9-0 by India’s Naveen, who won by point, with no points scored by Tahir.

Tahir advanced to the finals after defeating his opponent, New Zealand’s Cole Hawkins, 11-0 by technical superiority, with no points scored by the latter. He, together with his compatriots Inam Butt and Zaman Anwar, helped Pakistan win a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Another Pakistan wrestler, Ali Asad, won bronze for Pakistan after defeating New Zealand’s Suraj Singh in the Men’s Freestyle 57kg category in 55 seconds. Asad’s hold was fantastic, as he scared Singh by clutching him from his legs and rolling him off the mat for 10 points.

Asad won the bronze medal with a final score of 11-0. The Pakistani wrestler was defeated in the semi-finals by his Indian opponent Kumar Ravi. Pakistan won its third bronze medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. Wrestler Inayatullah (62kg) and Judoka Hussain Shah both won bronze medals in the multi-sport event earlier. Six wrestlers competed in the Commonwealth Games 2022, with five of them winning gold.
