PM Shehbaz describes the social media onslaught against martyrs as “horrifying.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif slammed the social media campaign launched against Pakistan Army martyrs on Sunday, calling it “awful” and urging the nation to ponder on the problem.

The premier stated on his official Twitter account, “The social media campaign denigrating and insulting the sacrifices of our martyrs was horrific.”

He further stated that such instances occur as a result of the holier-than-thou narrative propagated in the name of politics.

“This is what self-righteous political narratives do: they poison young people’s minds and weaponize hate speech.” “Where are we going?” The prime minister was questioned.”The occasion calls for deep contemplation,” he said at the end of his tweet.

The Prime Minister’s post came after the Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Major General Babar Iftikhar, criticised the negative propaganda on social media that erupted following the chopper crash in which six Pakistan Army officers embraced martyrdom on Friday.

“We’ve been upset since the accident on August 1.” “The misinformation has caused enormous pain, particularly to the families of the martyrs,” claimed the ISPR in a statement.

General Babar stressed that this should not happen and that elements disseminating negative propaganda and rumours should be rejected.”Insensitive behaviour is unacceptable and should be denounced on all platforms,” he said, adding that the Pakistan Army is grateful to the people for its support of them and the martyrs.
