Report: SS Rajamouli disputes the success of “RRR.”

According to BollywoodLife, director SS Rajamouli is still in shock that the Ram Charan and Jr. NTR movie RRR became an instant mega-blockbuster.

The director stated, “Never ever [had] I anticipated RRR to fare well with the Western public,” during his keynote address at the Toronto International Film Festival. I wasn’t even inclined toward that. I anticipated there could be a few when I started receiving the comments after RRR was released (in the West).

“Then a few became hundreds, and hundreds became thousands, and as film professionals from other industries praised RRR, I came to a realisation about myself and my works that I had never known before. To be completely honest, I’m still learning,” the director said.

The Bahubali director had previously expressed his amazement at the western audience’s reaction to the movie, saying, “Yes, I was shocked at the reception from the West. Everyone enjoys a good story, but I didn’t believe I could produce works that would appeal to Western sensibilities. I had never trusted myself. Therefore, when it was released on Netflix, viewers began to watch it, word of mouth began to spread, and critics began to give it positive reviews, “yeah, I was really, very astonished,” he continued.

The movie RRR, which included stars like Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn and was set in the 1920s when Britain governed India, made INR 1200 crore worldwide. The movie received plaudits from many western directors, including the Russo Brothers, Scott Derrickson, and Joe Dante, among others. The movie is anticipated to give an Indian Oscars presentation.
