The bride’s notion of asking guests to pay for dinner divided the internet.
Weddings are filled with love, joy, and wonderful food, but they can also be incredibly expensive and put a dent in people’s budgets. However, one bride-to-be has devised a way to save money by asking guests to pay for the meal.
To save money on the wedding, the bride proposed that guests pay for their own food instead of presenting gifts. The bride took to Facebook and Reddit to get feedback on her plan and received varied replies from social media users.
“Did anyone request that their guests pay for their meals?” Everything is so pricey right now. We’ll either reschedule our October wedding, cancel the guest list, or ask our guests to pay for their meals instead of gifts. I’ve already sent out the invitations, so I’m not sure how we’d go about it. Please assist. “I’m stressed and sad,” stated the bride on Reddit.
The post elicited a variety of responses, the majority of which were favourable to the bride, with several claiming to have been in a similar circumstance.
One of the users commented: “Personally, I would be delighted if I was asked to pay for my food instead of receiving a gift. So long as that was the initial notion. I don’t mind if some folks just want to spend the day with their family and friends.”
“That’s just what I was going to say. Not a bad deal if meals are reasonably priced and no presents are required. I’d be fine with it “Another one was written.”That’s what my dad did at his wedding, on the invite it read no presents but please pay for your lunch,” one user wrote.
However, there were some who were opposed to the notion.
“They should have the best wedding they can afford. It’s quite impolite to expect guests to pay for their meals “said one user
“I’m talking about a tiny potluck garden wedding. I don’t think it’s acceptable to charge people a price to visit a wedding venue “one of the users commented
