When Govinda was chosen by fans over Amitabh Bachchan:

Although many people consider Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda to be one of the “greatest jodis” in Indian film, there was a time when fans preferred “Chote Miyan” above “Bade Miyan.”

Bollywood’s “angry young man” was trying to forge a new identity for himself in the late 1980s since his old one was becoming stale.

In the meantime, Govinda’s reputation was skyrocketing as a result of box office successes like Coolie No 1, and the actor thereafter became well-known.

The Sholay actor remembers working with Govinda on a movie in an old interview, and some youngsters came up to us asking for signatures.

When a bunch of small children approached me when Govinda and I were filming for Hum, one of the lads requested for an autograph.

Bachchan went on to say “I was standing next to Govinda. A young, adorable girl slapped him and yelled, “Not him.” Get Govinda’s signature.Bachchan acknowledged that “the younger lot will be what people want to see.”

“I made errors and kept attempting to fix them in each new film. But there’s no disputing that younger lads are now in the spotlight because today’s viewers are in the 18–30 age range, the seasoned performer continued.

All the generations of actors who afterwards joined Bollywood have collaborated with Bachchan. He will appear on screen with Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in his forthcoming movie Brahmastra.
