Where will the 2023 Asia Cup be held?

The fate of the Asia Cup 2023 is still up in the air, but sources told Geo News on Sunday that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has paid for two venues where games will be played in two stages.

In the first part of the event, four games will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The rest of the games will be played at the Dubai International Stadium.

The PCB is sure it can sell more tickets in Dubai than in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that they won’t send their team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup because they want the event to be held at a neutral location.

But the PCB doesn’t want to hold the event outside of Pakistan because it would hurt its efforts to bring international cricket back to the country.

So that the deadlock could be broken, the PCB gave the hybrid model two choices. In the first choice, India’s games will be played at a neutral location, while all the other games will be played in Pakistan.

In another choice, four of the group stage games in the first phase will be played in Pakistan. The games of the Indian team and the games of the next stage, including the final, will be played at a neutral site during the second phase.

Earlier, Najam Sethi, the head of the PCB Management Committee, called for a logical way to solve the looming crisis that could make it hard for Pakistan to host the Asia Cup and take part in the ODI World Cup this year.

During a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Sethi told the reporters that it is unlikely that the Pakistan team will go to India for the ODI World Cup.

“If India didn’t want to go to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup, it’s possible that the Pakistani government wouldn’t let the Men in Green cross the border to play in the World Cup. “Then cricket will be the one who loses the most,” Sethi said.

“There should be a middle way to solve problems that make it hard for ICC and ACC games to go off without a hitch. If India doesn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government won’t let us go to India to play in the World Cup games,” he said. na
