Will Pakistan go to India in order to take part in the ICC World Cup?
As the World Cup gets near, there are more and more questions and doubts about Pakistan’s ability to take part in the big event, which will take place in India.
The Indian cricket board said they wouldn’t send their team to Pakistan, so it’s possible that the Green Shirts won’t go to their neighboring country to take part in the big event.
Sources told GeoSuper.tv that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to get permission from its government to play in the World Cup in India because of what Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said while he was in Goa.
During his trip to attend the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, the FM said, “Sports should stay out of politics and foreign policy.”
Earlier, a number of sources said that Pakistan and India will meet at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, during the World Cup.
“Pakistan might not agree to play India at Narendra Modi Stadium for some reason,” a person said, but they wouldn’t say what that reason was until the official schedule was released.
It’s important to remember that the International Cricket Council (ICC) hasn’t released the World Cup schedule yet. This year, the big event will take place in India in October and November.
A reliable source in the PCB has also refuted reports that they asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to give them a written promise that if Pakistan goes to India for the ICC World Cup, they will come here for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025.
