A strong army makes sure that the country is safe and stays together: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir said at an award event to honor the unwavering bravery and outstanding services of martyrs and ghazis to the nation that a strong army is the best way to keep the country safe and united.

In a ceremony held Monday at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the army chief gave military honors to the brave leaders and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, according to a statement from the military’s ISPR.

A lot of top officers from the Pakistan Army and the families of martyrs went to the event to remember the sacrifices that these people made to keep the country safe and free.

General Asim, who is in charge of the army, said that he was very grateful to the people who died and the soldiers, and he stressed how important it was for them to keep the country free and safe.

“There’s no doubt that the martyrs’ sense of duty and great sacrifices have made our lives free,” he said. He also said, “The deaths of martyrs and the work of Ghazis are our most valuable asset and source of pride.”

During the event, the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz (military) award was given to 51 officers in honor of their outstanding work. Also, 22 leaders and soldiers were given the Tamgha-e-Basalat award for their hard work, and two soldiers were given the United Nations Special Medal.

The army chief talked about how united and friendly the Pakistan Army is, calling it a proud and good-looking family. “As an institution, the Pakistan Army will always remember all of its members and their families, and our relationship as a family is a proud and exemplary one,” said General Asim.

He also said, “Every soldier and officer of the Pakistan Army puts his duties and responsibilities first, regardless of regional, linguistic, and political biases and differences.”

“A strong army guarantees the security and unity of the country,” he said.

General Asim was very saddened by the recent attacks on military bases, memorials, and places where heroes are honored. He called them intolerable. He promised to take strong action against those who did this, and he stressed that the army would always work to protect national security.

As a way to honor and remember the people who died for Pakistan, the COAS said that “Pakistan Martyrs Day” would be held on May 25. This day will be a way to honor the brave troops who gave their lives to protect their country.

The ceremony for giving out awards ended with a note of thanks to the martyrs and soldiers, recognizing how much they had done and reiterating the Pakistan Army’s promise to keep the country safe and united.
