Elections for the Karachi municipal government have been postponed once more.

With the current emergency rain scenario in mind, the second round of local body elections in Karachi division has been postponed once more.On August 28, voting for the LG elections was supposed to take place (Sunday).

In advance of the local body elections in Karachi, the Election Commission of Pakistan requested an urgent report from six important institutions earlier today (Wednesday).

An important meeting regarding the holding of local body elections in Karachi was held at the Election Commission’s headquarters in Islamabad under the direction of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. During this meeting, the weather situation and the issues of local elections were reviewed.

The municipal elections in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, and Sajawal were all postponed by the ECP yesterday.

On the petitions of the MQM-P, GDA, Chief Secretary Sindh, and provincial election commissioner, the second phase of the LG elections, which was previously scheduled for July 24, was postponed until August 28 last month.
