Highly-awaited: Kukri will be released on June 2.

The eagerly awaited Pakistani movie Kukri: The Untold Story of Serial Killer Javed Iqbal is finally scheduled to open on June 2 after encountering various obstacles and setbacks. The movie has undergone considerable revisions, including a name change to Kukri, and earlier this year, director Abu Aleeha announced his intention to resubmit it to the censor board for approval.

The decision to rename the movie was made due to worries that the original title, Javed Iqbal, may be seen as glorifying the character. The film’s purpose, the filmmaker emphasised, was not to glorify Iqbal or his horrible deeds but rather to promote awareness and inspire viewers to relate with Iqbal.
