Net Hydel Profit Increases For Punjab And KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have been given permission by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase their net hydropower profit (NHP) indexation by 5% annually over the rate of Rs. 1.10/unit.
The choice will result in an increase in the Net Hydel Profit (NHP) for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Rs. 1.10/unit to Rs.The KP government claimed in its submissions that the GoKP’s indexation amount, in accordance with the MoU signed between the GoP and GoKP from FY 2015–16 to FY 2021–22, is Rs 21 billion in light of the approval of CCI in the subject of yearly indexation of 5%.According to the order issued by NEPRA here on Friday, in accordance with Rule 16(6) of the NEPRA (Tariff Standards & Procedure) Rules, 1998, read with 3(2) of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Review Procedure) Regulations, 2009, the Authority hereby modifies its order approved in accordance with its decision in the matter of Motion for Leave for Review filed by the Energy and Power Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the Authority Decision dated April 5, 20,

. To approve a 5% annual indexation of net hydropower profit (NHP) over the rate of Rs. 1.10/Kwh for the governments of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, effective with the ensuing fiscal years 2015–16 and 2016–17, respectively.
The 5% yearly indexation of NHP shall remain until receipt of any ruling or decision in the issue from the CCI, which the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is required to move or pursue before the CCI. The provincial contribution of KP in the NHP will rise from the current Rs 18 billion to roughly Rs 21 billion yearly as a result of the NEPRA decision.
