PTI protest against ECP would be held at government-approved F-9 park

On Thursday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced a change in the party’s protest location, urging supporters to gather in Islamabad’s F9 Park to protest the Election Commission of Pakistan and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, rather than outside the body’s headquarters as previously announced.

“Today, I am calling on all of our people to join me in a peaceful public protest against the CEC and ECP in F-9 Park at 6 p.m.,” he posted on Twitter.

The former prime minister stated that he will speak to the crowd between 7 and 7:30 p.m.

Khan had previously called supporters to rally outside the ECP building to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.

In preparation of demonstrators, Islamabad’s district administration barricaded the Red Zone and positioned containers at the federal capital’s entry gates.

Law enforcement personnel, including anti-riot forces, Rangers, FC, and police, have been stationed throughout the Red Zone.

The district administration granted the party permission to meet at F9 Park and Sector H9 after the party opted to shift the location of the protest.

The protest has been authorised by an official notification.

The notification informs the party that when staging the demonstration, all rules and regulations must be followed.
