Screen Daily has named Alia Bhatt the “Performance of the Year” for her work in “Gangubai Kathiawadi.”

Alia Bhatt’s stunning performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi has earned her the title of Performance of the Year from the British publication Screen Daily.

Alia updated her followers on the momentous news by posting a screenshot of the review to her Instagram story and linking to it. She then appended a white heart emoji to her “thank you” message.

According to Screen Daily, Alia Bhatt’s work in Gangubai Kathiawadi has earned her the award for Best Performance of the Year.
Screen Daily columnist Wendy Ide gave a spot-on analysis of Alia’s character in the film. Her description of Bhatt was “electrifying.” The scene where Gangu is made leader of the Kamathipura and the dance sequence were specifically highlighted as being the film’s highlights.

In Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the first time. The movie was a worldwide smashing success, garnering rave reviews from audiences everywhere.

The movie is inspired on the real-life story of a mafia queen who advocates for the safety and respect of red-light district sex workers.

Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, and Shantanu Maheshwari also had substantial roles in Bhansali’s film.

Alia Bhatt is set to appear alongside Ranveer Singh in the next Karan Johar film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, according to NDTV.
