Shah Rukh Khan opens up why he chose to act in ‘Pathaan’

After a string of romantic comedies, Shah Rukh Khan explains why he opted for an action picture like Pathaan.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaynege, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, and Dilwale are just a few of SRK’s numerous great romantic contributions to the Bollywood film industry.

Pathan, on the other hand, is a picture in an entirely different genre, one that is rife with violence, gore, thrillers, and suspense. He explained why he decided to see this particular movie. Since I first started working in movies, I’ve had a burning urge to direct an action flick. He originally scripted an action movie for me when we (producer Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan) were just getting started. It never occurred to me that I could handle romantic or dramatic comedic roles. One day, though, he approached me and asked, “Can we scrap this notion, Shah Rukh?” “I have to write a love story.”

This happened a long time ago. This time around, though, the Pathaan code meant COVID, and very minimal gunfire was permitted at his command. Without wasting any time, I seized the opportunity and urged my colleagues, “Let’s do it before he cancels.” So, I went to the gym and got in shape. Still, they weren’t interested in it at all. The advice I received was, “You just do cool action,” and I took it to heart. In addition, SRK remarked, “You’re so simple.

After a hiatus of four years, Shah Rukh Khan is returning to the big screen with Pathaan. In addition to Siddharth Aanand, actors Deepika Padukone and John Abraham appear in the next film.
