The Weeknd says that his hair was getting in the way.

The Canadian musician The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp talked to W Magazine about their show The Idol in an interview. The former talked about how he became famous and what made his hair stand out.

“When I first started working, I didn’t show myself at all. I didn’t want to become well-known. “No one knew what I looked like for the first two years,” he said. When he finally became known to the media, he and his famous haircut went viral very quickly.

“The hair became an obstacle for me!” he said. “I went from saying ‘No one knows who I am’ to ‘Nobody has that hair except The Weeknd.'” I always tried to keep it a secret. When I finally made up my mind to cut it, everyone told me not to. That made me want to do it even more. I felt like that hair was a part of me, so I had to cut it. I didn’t want to be known for just this or that.”

He also talked about how he fell in love with films: “When I was a child, I loved to hear myself sing. But I was so shy that I wouldn’t do it in front of other people. I wasn’t sure if I was any good. In high school, I started to like pictures. I watched The Mask and Jurassic Park when I was young. Dinosaurs and Jim Carrey! The movies helped me write better songs, but I thought music would be my way out of the hood.
