Alien technology may be able to find us: study

In a study, scientists said that radio waves might let aliens find people on Earth.

The Sun said that people use radio transmitters like cell phones and satellite phone services, which cause the messages to leak.

High-frequency sounds from radars and radios can reach space.

Scientists from the University of Manchester did a study in which they simulated radio leakage from cell phone towers using public data.

The results showed that growing countries like Africa make a big difference in the Earth’s mobile radio signature.

“This is exciting because it shows how well the countries have done in moving right into the digital age,” the team said.

Professor Mike Garrett, who led the study team, said, “I’ve heard a lot of my colleagues say that the Earth has become less radio-quiet in recent years, which is something I’ve always argued against.”

“It’s true that TV and radio transmitters aren’t as strong as they used to be, but the growth of mobile communication systems around the world is huge.”

Professor Garrett said that even though each system has low radio power, the “spectrum of billions of these devices is substantial.”

“Based on what we know now, we will have more than 100,000 satellites in low-Earth orbit and beyond by the end of the decade,” he said.

“The Earth is already unusually bright in the radio part of the spectrum. If this keeps up, any advanced civilization with the right technology could find us with ease.”

He thought that there were very advanced societies in other parts of the universe.

Dr. Nalini Heeralall-Issur, an associate professor at the University of Mauritius, said, “I think there’s a good chance that there are advanced civilizations out there, and some of them might be able to see the radio leakage made by people coming from Earth.”

As the scientists continue their study, they will look into other sources of radio leakage, such as military radars and Wifi signals.
