Chief Justice to make decision about CM Punjab Election at 5:45
The Punjab chief minister election issue, in which Hamza Shahbaz defeated Pervez Elahi, will be determined by the Supreme Court at 5:45 p.m. today, according to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) (Tuesday). Both Farooq H Naek and Irfan Qadir notified the court during the hearing that they would not be attending the hearing since a boycott was in place on behalf of Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari.
Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial then extended the court’s open invitation to all parties in an effort to aid the court in reaching a fair and just decision in the well-known case. Elahi appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court on July 22, following his defeat when 10 PML- The Q votes were ignored by Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari. The coalition government opposed to the SC’s decision and asked for a full court to hear the case, thus the SC created a three-member bench to hear the case
.However, the SC chose not to convene a full court bench, saying that the same bench would hear the matter after listening to arguments from all sides for nearly eight hours on Monday. The ruling coalition and the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chose to skip the Supreme Court’s hearing as a result of the SC’s decision to not create a full bench.
