Karl Lagerfeld’s life and work will be honoured at the Met Gala in 2023.
The Met Gala, which celebrities and people who know a lot about fashion look forward to every year, is coming up soon. This year’s theme, “In honour of Karl,” is a tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, a fashion icon who had a huge effect on the industry.
The Costume Institute Benefit is a fancy event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May. Guests must dress according to the event’s theme.
The dress code will match Lagerfeld’s complicated history, and guests can’t wait to see how people interpret the theme.
“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the spring show at the Costume Institute, will also look at Lagerfeld’s long career. It will open to the public the next day.
Lagerfeld has done a lot for the fashion industry. He has been the creative director of Chanel and Fendi, and he has also worked with Chloé, Patou, and Balmain.
The themes of the Met Gala are generally based on the new shows at the Costume Institute. Themes from the past have been ideas or places, but particular designers have also been honoured, like Rei Kawakubo in 2017 and Alexander McQueen a year after his death in 2011.
Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ is the spring show at the Costume Institute this year. It comes more than 20 years after a controversial project between Lagerfeld and the museum fell through.
