Malala describes the Taliban’s leadership as a “year of gloom.”

Malala Yousafzai, the world’s youngest Nobel winner, termed the one-year anniversary of the Taliban’s rule “one year of darkness.” The Taliban and their sympathisers celebrated a year after taking power by waving the group’s flag in Afghanistan’s streets. As US forces leave the country in 2021, the gang marched to power.

“Afghanistan has been in darkness for a year. One year of unfulfilled expectations for Afghan women and girls, “Malala stated on Twitter. The 25-year-old urged others to speak up, saying that “the Afghan people have not given up on their ambitions to restore freedom and dignity – and neither should we.

“Malala expressed hope that this would be the “final anniversary” of the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan and expressed her desire to celebrate an elected government that “enables every woman and girl to fulfil her full potential.”
