Police say that an explosion on Peshawar’s Ring Road killed one person and hurt three others.

Thursday, there was an explosion at a motorbike shop near the Ring Road in Peshawar. At least one person was killed and three others were hurt.

Harood Rashid, who is the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Peshawar, told that there were injuries and deaths. He said that the explosion happened in the area where the Peshatakara police post is in charge of.

The source said that the people who were hurt had been taken to the Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Rashid also said that police teams, ambulances, and a bomb removal team were on their way to the scene. Later, he told Dawn.com that the explosion was caused by 200 grams of explosives.

The official also said that the probe is still going on.

Since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke its truce with the government in November, there has been a wave of terrorism in Pakistan, mostly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

A study says that January 2023 was the deadliest month since 2018. At least 44 militant attacks across the country killed 134 people and hurt 254, which is a 139% increase from 2018.

The violence happened just a few days after the military announced a new operation against militants. In recent months, there has been a rise in attacks, including a bombing at a mosque in Peshawar in February that killed more than 100 people.
