Priyanka Chopra talks about her struggles in Bollywood: ‘I’m not a nepo kid’

In her most recent show with Dax Shepherd, Priyanka Chopra talked about how hard it was for her to get started in Bollywood.

When she talked about it, she said that because she wasn’t a nepotism baby, many of her movies were bombing at the time.

Priyanka said, “I was scared, and so was my mom. She comes up to me and says, “You’re about to turn 30. In this business, that’s an old idea. They want to work with 20-year-olds, so you need to come up with a way to make money if you want to stay in business.”

She also said, “I was scared when those six movies didn’t do well because I’m not a nepotism baby. I didn’t have the kind of backing that is common in Bollywood films. They have been acting for more than one generation and get more chances than those who come from outside. You can’t have your uncle make a new movie for you just because your last one bombed.”

Chopra said that she felt like she had no chance of making it in the business. “You have to go after it and work hard for it. I’m not the best at making friends. I thought, “I’ll never be cast in a big movie again,” and that was one of the main reasons I took on a movie on my own out of necessity, which ended up being a turning point in my career,” she said.

IndianExpress says that Priyanka Chopra got her big break with the movie Fashion, for which she won the National Award for Best Actress.
