Russia disputes assertions of a “special” oil discount

According to Russian and American media sources, Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov stated that oil supply to Pakistan had started on the basis of payment in the currency of a friendly nation but emphasised that there was no particular discount to Islamabad.

Speaking to the media last week on the margins of the International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Saint Petersburg, Shulginov emphasised that his nation will secure additional oil exports to Pakistan while downplaying the likelihood of export limits.
