Student denied degree by UET for 38 years

A student from Qatar named Ibrahim submitted an application to the Ombudsman Punjab claiming that he had earned a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 1984, but that the diploma had yet to be awarded despite multiple appeals. It was discovered throughout the investigation that the petitioner’s degree was not yet ready. The inquiry officer, Dr. Sajid Yousafani, ordered the University of Engineering and Technology’s registrar and the Controller of Examinations to prepare and issue the applicant’s degree as soon as possible in light of this discovery. The UET registrar prepared the degree per the investigation officer’s instructions and gave it to the applicant’s agent in Pakistan.

The non-production of a student’s degree for 38 years was deemed a significant mismanagement by the Ombudsman of Punjab.
