The visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to Pakistan has been postponed; a new date will be announced soon.

Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud canceled a planned visit to Pakistan on Saturday.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Spokesperson for the Foreign Office, issued a brief statement confirming the postponement of the visit.

‘The new dates will be jointly finalized by the two sides,’ she said.

In a September phone call, the prime minister invited the crown prince to speak with him directly.

If the Saudi crown prince had made it to Pakistan, it would have been his first trip there since the country’s government switched hands in April.

According to diplomats, Islamabad was hoping that Riyadh would offer a $4.2 billion bailout package during the visit of the Saudi crown prince.

The date of the Saudi leader’s uncommon visit, set for November 21, was not confirmed until late that month.

In addition, the Saudis were anticipated to make substantial financial investments in Pakistan. During his excellency’s visit, a number of petroleum agreements between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were reportedly being finalized for signing.

The government had hoped that an imminent agreement would facilitate the collection of Saudi financial support for the construction of a cutting-edge refinery in Gwadar.

The last time the crown prince visited Pakistan was in February 2019, when Imran Khan was prime minister.
