 Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won gold at the Commonwealth Games. 

Pakistan celebrated another great moment on Monday morning as its top javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, won a gold medal for the country at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Nadeem set a new record in the first round of the javelin throw final with an 86.81-metre throw.Arshad broke his own record in the second attempt with an 88m throw, followed by an 85.09m throw in the fourth attempt to maintain his lead.

The Olympian established a new CWG record of 90.18m on her fifth attempt, becoming the first Pakistani to hold the record.Arshad Nadeem outthrew India’s Neeraj Chopra’s 87.58m (Gold) Tokyo Olympic throw and 88.13m World Athletics Championship toss.

This is Pakistan’s second gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt had previously won gold for Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022 with a record lift of 405kg.

In an interview   following his historic feat, Nadeem thanked the entire nation for praying for his success”Allah (God) has rewarded me with a gold medal because of the prayers of the country,” he remarked.

Despite elbow and knee problems, Nadeem expressed his joy at earning the gold medal. “However, I appreciated my doctors who had helped me during my training.”The star athlete also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for providing him the facilities.
