Babar Azam has moved up to third place in the current ICC Test Batting Rankings.
Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-format skipper, was rewarded for his superb performance in the first Test against Sri Lanka by moving up to third place in the latest ICC Test Batting Rankings. Babar, who aspired to be the top-ranked player in all three forms, went one step closer to his goal by claiming third place in the Test batting rankings.
The right-handed hitter is already the best in both ODIs and T20Is. While Babar aims to top the charts in the supreme format of the game, he is still 49 points behind England’s Joe Root, who now holds the top spot with 923 rating points.
The Pakistan skipper, who hit 119 runs in the first inning of the first Test against Sri Lanka, moved ahead of veteran Australian batter Steve Smith by 26 points. Babar is positioned 11 points behind Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne, who is ranked second. He is also the only batter who has finished in the top three in all formats.
