Naila Kiani, a mountaineer, will receive the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award

The awarding of the civic Sitara-i-Imtiaz to renowned mountaineer Naila Kiani in honor of her achievements in ascending Mount Everest was approved on Wednesday by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

As the second Pakistani woman to hoist her nation’s flag atop the highest mountain in the world, Kiani Sunday completed the climb to the summit of Mount Everest. In 2013, Samina Baig became the first female mountaineer from Pakistan to conquer the formidable Everest.

The awarding of the mountaineer with the honor was authorized by the prime minister, according to a notification from the office of the prime minister.

The cabinet secretary has been instructed by the PM Office to complete all necessary paperwork.

The Prime Minister had already declared that Kiani would receive the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award because of her success in bringing honor to Pakistan.

It is important to note that Kiani became the first Pakistani woman to summit six 8,000-meter mountains on Tuesday morning when she successfully climbed Mount Lhotse in Nepal, barely two days after reaching the top of the world’s tallest mountain, Everest.

At 8,516 meters, Lhotse is the fourth-highest mountain in the world, behind Kangchenjunga, K2, and Mount Everest.
