Pakistan now has five medals from the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
Pakistan now has five medals in the Commonwealth Games 2022, thanks to three medals won by wrestlers. Friday [August 5] was the day when Pakistan’s wrestlers – Zaman Anwar, Inam Butt, and Inayatullah – won medals and put a smile on Pakistanis’ faces.
In the Men’s Free Style 65 kg Wrestling event, Inayatullah defeated his Scottish opponent, Ross Connelly, to win a bronze medal for his country. He won the race on technical superiority after three minutes and 59 seconds. Second, star wrestler Inam Butt won a silver medal in the Men’s Freestyle 86kg category after losing the final to his Indian opponent Punia.
The third medal was won by Pakistani wrestler Zaman Anwar, who won silver in the Men’s Freestyle 125 kg final. After a hard bout, he was defeated by Canada’s Amarveer Dhesi 2-9. Earlier this week, Pakistani weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt earned the country’s gold medal with a spectacular lift of 405kg, a Commonwealth record.
Butt got widespread acclaim from his countrymen, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Judoka Shah Hussain Shah won Pakistan’s first medal earlier this week, taking bronze. He outperformed his South African opponent in the 90kg division, which was his first ever 90kg event as he had previously only competed in the 100kg category.
