PSL 2023: The six most exciting parts of the PSL so far this year
The eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 is off to a great start as cricket players from Pakistan and all over the world show off their skills on the pitch.
Top six thrilling moments from this year’s PSL PSL so far
So far, 13 games have been played in the tournament, which began on February 13 with an exciting opening ceremony. Fans of cricket all over the country have been glued to their TVs for every match, but there have been some moments and players who have stood out the most.
Geo.tv looks at the top six things that made fans go crazy.
- Azam Khan’s 97 runs off 42 balls was amazing.
Friday’s game between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United was the most recent one. During that game, Islamabad United batter Azam Khan wowed everyone on the field by scoring an amazing 97 runs off of only 47 balls.
Azam was only three runs short of a century during his time on the field. He hit nine boundaries and eight maximums.
Fans and the famous cricket player Shahid Afridi both praised him for his great game.
He wrote on Twitter, “Well played Azam Khan, boom-boom innings, fearless.”
The 20-ball 50 by James Vince
Multan Sultans may have won the 11th match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans on February 22, but Kings did not go down without putting up a fight.
Vince got to his fifty in just 20 balls by hitting six fours and four sixes. This is the fastest fifty of the PSL so far.
By the time the dangerous Vince left the field at the end of the 10th over, he had scored 75 runs on just 34 balls.
- The century of Mohammad Rizwan
The match between the Kings and Sultans, which was already mentioned, was definitely one of the most exciting of the tournament so far.
On both sides, there were more than one great plays. During the match, Sultan had to bat first. Mohammad Rizwan did a great job at the bat, scoring 110 runs off of 64 balls, and helped him set a target of 197 runs for the Kings.
Rizwan was the first batter in the game, and he hit 10 boundaries and 4 sixes while staying on the field the whole time.
- Martin Guptill’s “unbeaten” century: On February 18, during the sixth game of the season, Martin Guptill hit the first century of the tournament.
Guptill hit pacer Andrew Tye for 30 runs in the 19th over of the innings of the exciting game to get to his century.
The New Zealand cricketer hit 12 fours and five sixes to get a total of 117 runs in 67 balls. He was out on the last ball of the innings.
- Ihsanullah’s 5-12 in 4 overs was a great performance.
Ihsanullah, a fast bowler for the Sultans, took charge of his team’s bowling in the third game of the tournament. In his first PSL match, he bowled a great spell.
Ihsanullah looked completely unplayable as he took two wickets in a row to help Sultans roar at their home ground against Gladiators.
In his four overs, the right-handed pacer got five wickets while only giving up 12 runs.
Erin Holland, a famous TV host, tweeted, “Ihsanullah… the real deal. “Are the Multan Sultans once again finding the next big thing in fast bowling…?”
The 3-13 by Muhammad Hasnain in 4 overs
Pacer Muhammad Hasnain, who is 22 years old, is another top player in the tournament who has turned heads with his skills.
Hasnain bowled a “crazy” spell during the ninth match of the tournament, which was between Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi.
Hasnain helped the Gladiators get off to a good start by taking three wickets quickly in his first four overs. He quickly took out Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, which put Gladiators in charge.
