Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal demands a transfer.

Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal requested his transfer in a letter to the Establishment Division on Saturday.According to sources, the federal government has asked the chief secretary to hold the fort due to Muharram and the peace and order situation.

According to the sources, the chief secretary stated that the transfer should be based on performance rather than political shift.”I’m not going to become a rubber stamp only to sign transfer orders,” he said.

According to sources, Afzal also stated that the bureaucracy was already impacted before to the country’s political developments. He had also asked his transfer during the reign of former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.

According to sources, the chief secretary has essentially quit the position, as he has been absent from Punjab cabinet sessions and the ministers’ swearing-in ceremony.

According to the sources, “Chief Secretary Afzal works as the cabinet secretary, while the secretary implementation and coordination (I&C) executed Afzal’s duties in the cabinet meeting.”

On September 21, 2021, Afzal was under the reign of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He took the place of Jawad Rafique Malik.
