After the ICC’s annual update, where does Pakistan stand in the Test and T20I rankings?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finished updating the ranks for Test and T20I matches for the year.

The Test team Pakistan is now ranked sixth. But in the ICC T20I ranks, the Men in Green have dropped one spot and are now in fourth place.

India is in first place in both Test and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket. In Test cricket, they beat Australia and took over the top spot from them.

“India have passed Australia to regain the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings,” the ICC said in a press statement. “This comes after the annual update, which drops results from the 2019-20 season and takes into account all series played since May 2020.”

“India’s rating points have gone up from 119 to 121 because their 2-0 loss to New Zealand in March 2020 is no longer counted in the standings. Series played before May 2022 are worth 50% of a team’s rating, and series played after that are worth 100%. In December 2021, India was on top for the last time, for a month.

“Australia’s rating has dropped from 122 to 116 points because their 2-0 and 3-0 home series wins over Pakistan and New Zealand in 2019-20 are no longer counted, and their 4-0 win over England in 2021-22 has had its weighting cut in half to 50%.”

Australia and India will play in the final of the World Test Championship 2023 on June 7 at The Oval.

After the Pakistan-New Zealand series ends on May 10, the yearly update to the ODI team rankings will be finalised.
