‘Paris 2024 hoping for flame on Eiffel Tower’

A person with direct knowledge of the situation told Reuters on Monday that the Olympic flame was going to be put on the Eiffel Tower. This was part of the plan for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The source also said that the flame wouldn’t be put on top of the Eiffel Tower for technical reasons, and it wasn’t clear if it would stay on the structure for the whole event. However, the combination of two such famous landmarks would make for a dramatic backdrop to the event, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

The person said, “It’s been a work in progress for the last two years.”

They also said that the flame can’t be at the top of the tower because satellites are already there.

A representative for Paris 2024 told Reuters that they haven’t decided where the Olympic flame will be lit on the first day of the games.

They didn’t say they weren’t working on putting the light on the Eiffel Tower, but they also wouldn’t say when something would be said.

The three-masted tall ship “Belem” will bring the flame from Greece to the port city of Marseille on May 8. The trip will take 10 days.
